Meet Your Postpartum Doula

Hi, my name is Elena (she/her)! I grew up bilingual, speaking German and Italian, and developed a deep love for languages as a way to connect with people. This passion led me to earn a master’s degree in translation studies and begin my career as a translator, bridging cultural gaps and fostering understanding.

However, becoming a mom changed everything for me. It highlighted how essential support is in those early days of parenting and inspired me to embrace my true calling: nurturing new parents and helping them build a strong foundation for this incredible chapter in their lives.

The skills I honed as a translator now guide my work as a doula, as I help families navigate the tender, transformative postpartum period, bridging the gap between uncertainty and confidence. It’s a profound honor to be welcomed into a family’s life during such an intimate time.

Growing up in Germany, I was inspired by the postpartum care tradition of Wochenbett, which emphasizes rest, recovery, and bonding in the weeks after childbirth. This philosophy deeply influences my approach, as I focus on creating a nurturing space for families with personalized care that fosters connection, ease, and confidence as they grow into their new roles.

When I’m not supporting families, I love exploring new places with my husband and son, practicing yoga, or soaking in the beauty around us. I’ve lived in five countries, giving me a deep appreciation for different cultures. Even in my 30s, I still adore stickers and keep a sticker book as my slice of joy. And my favorite food? Definitely my mom’s Bolognese pasta, there is nothing more comforting!

Let’s build a strong foundation for your family’s journey.

My Background

I’m a certified postpartum doula passionate about supporting families during the important fourth trimester. As a mother, I’ve personally experienced the emotional and physical changes that come after birth, which allows me to bring empathy and understanding to my work. I offer evidence-based postpartum care, resources, and guidance to help new parents feel confident, connected, and cared for. I am committed to ongoing education and training so I can provide the highest quality support during the postpartum period.

My Approach to Care

I believe every family deserves to feel seen, supported, and nurtured as they begin the life-changing journey into parenthood. As a postpartum doula, my work is grounded in care, connection, and respect. I create a safe, non-judgmental space for families to grow into their new roles with confidence and trust. Through compassionate guidance, hands-on support, and emotional care during the postpartum period, I help strengthen the family bond and empower parents to thrive, not just survive, in the early weeks after birth.

My Services

I offer both daytime and overnight postpartum doula support, customized to meet the unique needs of your growing family. My guiding question is always: Does it serve the family bond? Every family’s connection looks different, and my role is to support and strengthen that bond in whatever way is most helpful. This may include newborn care, helping parents get more rest, providing evidence-based resources, assisting with light household tasks, or supporting older siblings as they adjust to life with a new baby.

What Does My Postpartum Support Look Like?

OVERNIGHT POSTPARTUM support

OVERNIGHT POSTPARTUM support

I offer flexible postpartum doula care in 3-hour shifts, up to four times a week, either in the morning or evening, tailored to meet your family’s unique needs. If you’re looking for more frequent support, don’t hesitate to reach out. I have experience partnering with other postpartum doulas to provide seamless, continuous care.

Morning sessions are ideal for a calm and nurturing start to the day. This time can help you catch up on rest, enjoy a nourishing breakfast, and ease into your afternoon with confidence and support.

Evening shifts offer hands-on help during the often challenging “witching hour,” when babies tend to be more unsettled and parents may need an extra set of hands. Evening support is especially helpful for families with older children, making space for dinner, bedtime routines, and one-on-one time with siblings.

Whether you choose morning or evening care, my goal is the same: to help you bond with your baby, build confidence as a parent, and feel supported every step of the way.

Support may include:

  • Newborn care and feeding support (breastfeeding, bottle feeding, pumping)
  • Checking in about your night and offering space to rest or recharge
  • Meal preparation and light household tasks
  • Sibling care and help with family transitions
  • Emotional support and space to process birth or early parenting
  • Referrals to trusted postpartum resources and specialists

My intention is always to help you feel supported, resourced, and confident as you navigate the fourth trimester.

OVERNIGHT POSTPARTUM support

OVERNIGHT POSTPARTUM support

OVERNIGHT POSTPARTUM support

I offer overnight postpartum doula care in 8–10-hour shifts, up to four times a week. Shifts are typically scheduled between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM. If your family needs more frequent overnight care, please reach out. I often collaborate with other trusted postpartum doulas to ensure you receive the consistent support you deserve.

Nighttime support is focused on helping you get the rest you need to recover, recharge, and face the next day feeling more grounded and well. Whether you're navigating newborn sleep patterns, night feedings, or simply longing for a stretch of uninterrupted sleep, I’m here to support you. My presence brings peace, calm, and consistency to your nights, so your whole household can rest more easily.

Support may include:

  • A check-in at the start of the night to review feeding plans, routines, or any changes in baby care
  • Bringing your baby to you for feeds or managing bottle feedings so you can continue sleeping
  • Sitting with you during night feeds for emotional support, gentle conversation, or quiet presence
  • Diaper changes and soothing your baby back to sleep
  • Light household tasks such as tidying the kitchen or folding laundry, always with rest as the priority

Overnight newborn care is more than just baby-watching. It’s about protecting your rest, reducing stress, and gently holding space for healing in the fourth trimester. My support adapts to your changing needs, helping you move through the night with less worry and more peace.

Night after night, I’m here to lighten your load, support your rest, and help you wake up feeling more like yourself.

Together, we will navigate your postpartum journey with care and confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach me at hello@elenathedoula.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

The length of support varies based on your needs and family's situation. I stay a minimum of 4 weeks, with at least 40 hours of support in total. I can extend my services up to 12 weeks, depending on your needs.

If you're feeling anxious about bringing your baby home or want extra support in adjusting to parenthood, a postpartum doula can be very helpful. Even with family nearby, I provide specialized support, advice, and reassurance. If you think extra help could make your postpartum experience smoother, a doula might be right for you.

Yes, in addition to daytime support, I offer overnight care, helping with night feedings, diaper changes, and soothing, allowing you to rest. I can bring the baby to you for nursing or handle bottle feedings.

During night shifts, I may occasionally rest briefly if everything is settled, but my focus is always on your needs and ensuring you have the space to rest as much as possible.

As a postpartum doula, I support the entire family, not just the baby. I focus on the parents' well-being, recovery, and confidence-building, offering guidance and emotional support alongside newborn care. I also help siblings adjust to their new normal, ensuring a smoother transition for everyone.

Absolutely! You can hire me anytime after birth, as long as it’s within the 4th trimester. Whether you’re a few days, weeks, or even months postpartum, I can step in to provide the support and guidance you need.

I offer a sliding scale to help make postpartum support more accessible. You’re welcome to choose the amount that feels right and sustainable for your family within that range, no questions asked. My goal is to support families while honoring both your needs and mine.

From time to time, I’m also able to offer reduced rate or pro bono support, especially for families experiencing financial hardship or with limited access to care. If you think this might be a good fit for you, please don’t hesitate to bring it up during our free consultation. I’ll always do my best to find a way to support you or help connect you with additional resources.

I am based in the Green Lake neighborhood of Seattle and support families throughout the Greater Seattle Area.

Your family’s safety and peace of mind are very important to me. I am fully vaccinated against COVID-19, up to date on all CDC-recommended vaccinations, and continue to wear a mask while working in your home.

Yes! I am certified through DONA International and NAPS, and am an approved provider with Carrot Fertility. If your benefit plan includes postpartum doula support, you may be able to use it for my services. I’m happy to assist with any necessary documentation. Feel free to reach out with any questions!
